Tilted Shell Baby Blanket

Tilted Shell Baby Blanket is the twin sister of the Slanted Shell Baby Blanket. Can you tell them apart? They certainly are similar but distinctly different.

Both are designed to be completed in 3 colors. So… find a yummy variegated yarn and choose two coordinating solids. For this twin, we chose a deep rose but used the same variegated and cream for the backdrop.

Then, prepare to have some fun with the colors chasing each other up the sides of the blanket as you crochet! Changing colors every row makes this blanket fun and easy to crochet.

First, you’ll learn how to crochet the foundation row. Second, you’ll learn the one row stitch pattern. Then when all the rows are completed, add the super-easy edging. It not only frames the blanket but it gives support and shape to the tilted shells along the edges.

The blanket requires just 8 ounces of the first solid color and 6 ounces of a second solid and 6 ounces of a variegated yarn.  End when the afghan is a rectangle to fit a crib. Or…keep going until variegated runs out. Then it’s a square and you are done!

If you want, stick to just one color or a pastel variegated. Or change the yarn altogether and select a sport or baby weight for a very delicate look. No matter what you choose, the stitch pattern looks great! So explore your stash for suitable yarn and just start!

This is the companion pattern for my video How to Crochet the Easy Tilted Shell Baby Blanket. Watch it to learn extra tips and tricks using this delightful pattern.
