Warp Knitting Stitch Patterns – Set One
Warp Knitting Stitch Patterns is the companion document to the Warp Knitting Straight Line Designs video. Here, we explore the basic stitch pattern and additional pattern variations. Each of these patterns result in vertical lines along the knitting. You will also learn how to read the diagrams for Warp Knitting.
Building on the knowledge learned in Warp Knitting Basics, each variation introduces a new concept for design. Left and right wrap combinations widen the vertical stripes. Changing colors on the background adds an element of plaid. And, spacing not only softens the fabric, it vertically stretches and horizontally expands the design. With these newly added concepts, design possibilities multiply exponentially.
Warp Knitting is an advanced garter bar weaving technique for the flatbed knitting machine. Although it does not require electronic patterning, or a ribber, this technique can create very dramatic knit fabrics.
Warp Knitting Basics focuses on learning the essential techniques to successfully warp knit. These techniques can be applied to all flatbed knitting machines including standard, bulky and mid-gauge machines. All you need is a garter bar that fits your machine!
