Toddler Pullover
The easy toddler pullover is machine knit from the bottom up! It features the automatic picot hem, a purlside out yoke with drop shoulders and a rolled boat neckline. Watch the companion tutorial as Part 1 focuses on making the bodice.
Since the front and back are identical, the pattern is super easy to knit. Plus the toddler can practice dressing themselves with super success!
The pattern includes 4 sizes (1T, 2T, 3T and 4T).
The sweater knits up quickly in comfortable Bernat Softee Baby Cotton, a cotton and acrylic blend. Use two colors, to emphasize the design. I chose “Cotton” which is a soft off-white and aqua mist. The yarn is as yummy as their names!
This yarn works up nicely on the LK150. But…keep in mind that the stitch gauge changes after washing and drying so make sure to treat your swatch the same way you plan to treat the sweater. I washed my swatch in cold water, dried on low, and only then measured the gauge. Only after washing and drying was the finished sweater the planned size!
I striped the sleeves because I had 1 skein of cotton and one of aqua mist. By striping, I had literally a yard of aqua to spare for size 1T. So make sure you purchase 2 skeins of each color if making a larger size. Of course, if you choose solid sleeves you will only need one extra skein of the main color.
The striped sleeves and their shaping will be featured in Part 2 (not yet released). In Part 3 (coming soon!) we will be installing the sleeves right on the machine and showing practical seaming methods that will make your finishing spectacular!
