Ridge Stitch Beanie
The Ridge Stitch Beanie is the ultimate garter bar practice project. This project is packed with lots techniques that will give you confidence to master the garter bar! Originally designed to knit on the LK 150 knitting machine, it works well on any midguage or bulky machine.
The ridges create a vertical elasticity that hugs the head in a similar way as ribbing but offers a time-saving alternative to reforming stitches to create ribbing on the LK. Plus, fashionistas will find that this beanie does not leave a crease in long straight hair! So comfortable, you may want to use it as a chemo hat!
This is the companion pattern for the video: How to Use the Garter Bar Part 6 Ridge Stitch Beanie. In this video we review how to make the perfect latch-tool cast-on or the perfect e-wrap cast-on, turn the knitting with the garter bar and decrease to shape the crown.
Yarn Bee Simply Flawless yarn (#3 acrylic) works really well. It just slides through the machine. However, you can use “I love this yarn” or Red Heart (#4 acrylic) but just make sure it leans toward the skinny side. You need less than 3 oz so you may want to simply raid your stash!
The Ridge Stitch Beanie pattern is very forgiving! If you goof up a little, no problem, just keep going!
