Moss Stitch Trivet, Hot Pad and Dishrag

The moss stitch trivet, hot pad and dishrag are a three-in-one project! The moss stitch itself combines the  simple structure of the single crochet and chain to create this easy-to-crochet square.

The basic square is the dishrag. Join two squares with the super-easy edging and they become the trivet. Take the trivet and add a loop to conveniently hang in the kitchen and it becomes the hot pad!

Crocheted in 100% cotton 4-ply yarn (#4 yarn), each project requires 2.5 ounces of yarn or less. This makes any of these projects practical and economical!

The fun begins by combining multiple colors. Change colors and find that the mitered corners will transform the square into an optical illusion!

This project definately falls directly in the scrap happy category!  And, its so easy to use up itsy bitsy lengths of cotton yarn. Just start with shorter pieces in the middle! The possibilities are limitless!

As a matter of fact, every single item pictured, is made up of little bits of yarn leftover from other projects! So experiment!
