Faux Cable Scarf

The faux cable scarf makes fun with color and cables! When these machine knitting techniques combine commonly available yarn and a plethora of colors, you will make your knitting  machine sing! We used Red Heart Super Saver acryllic yarn in Jade and Aruba Sea for our project.

This is the companion pattern to the video How to Machine Knit the Faux Cable Scarf!

First, we eliminated the need to drop stitches to create the columns.

Second,  we cover the fundamentals of the basic embossed stitch. It self-hems the selvedge edges of the scarf. It hides the carried thread as color change. It means no finishing!

Third, we explore the variations created when you change the direction and turn it around!

Whether you choose to use a  the latch tool that came with your knitting machine or a crochet hook, you will have plenty of practice on this project creating raised textural detail!

Not only do you explore latch-tool techniques but you actually have a really warm, wonderful, winter scarf when you are done! It makes a great practice project for learning latch-tool techniques.
