Basic Corded Edging
Over the years, corded edgings have had a number of names including crab stitch, pie crust, Italian edging and I’m sure many more! These all are a simple series of a reverse-single crochets and primarily used to create a roll on the edge that is just a little thicker than the main project yet quite narrow so that it adds a professional finish without distracting from the main stitch pattern.
This is the companion pattern for the video: How to Crochet Corded Edgings – Two Variations.
This pattern includes the fundamentals for crocheting basic corded edging. Then, I offer my alternative corded edge that is perfect for moss stitch patterns and when working with yarns with little or no elasticity like cotton or nylon.
