Boho Hobo Bag
The Boho Hobo Bag debuts just in time for the Fall. Felted wool makes a thick and rich fabric that does not require a lining. Hiding on the inside, you will find a convenient and secure key keeper.
Even though, the bag has just one pattern piece, the handles can be attached in 2 different ways. That’s 2 different looks. So… make sure to look at the pictures to pick your favorite! Plus the pattern includes a crossover or shoulder strap option!
Then, have some fun when you add the outer phone pocket. I love my stripes but also a button and curvy shape may add some delight to the whole look. This is where you get creative.
Although you can add the pocket detail later, you can completely assemble the bag before felting. I prefer this method as when it comes out of the water, all it needs to do is dry!
I knit these bags with Jagger Spun 100% wool, a fingering to sport weight yarn. It felts without fail. And, it is available in a wide range of colors! It has been a go-to wool for years so check your stash. The entire bag requires less than 8 ounces! If you substitute other wool, do a felt-ability test as some are treated to prevent felting.
You can knit the bag quite quickly on any bulky or mid-gauge flatbed knitting machine. Don’t worry that the stiches are loose as this feature contributes to the felting process.
This is the companion pattern for my video How to Machine Knit the Boho Hobo Bag. In that video, you will find a multitude of handy tips for preparing the bag for felting.
Then, watch my video How to Felt without a Washing Machine to discover a super easy technique that makes felting so enjoyable!
