Crinkle Fringe Cowl

The Crinkle Fringe Cowl is the perfect practice project for making Crinkle Fringe. The neck warmer version  uses takes less than 2.5 ounces of worsted weight acrylic yarn. Of course, you could make it longer and wider for a double wrap cowl which needs about 5.5 ounces! And how do I know this? Because in just an afternoon, I made 5 variations of them. It’s so addicting and so easy! Yet, they look great and feel wonderful! And are fun too! And, there’s no need to swatch! Just knit!

The secret to knitting Crinkle Fringe is using the right material. And the right material is 100% acrylic yarn. Yes, you heard me! So raid your yarn stash!  With readily available yarn just about everywhere, you will be amazed with what you are going to make.

I chose Red Heart worsted weight acrylic to work on my Brothers Bulky 230. But it works up great on any bulky or mid-gauge flatbed knitting machine. No electronics required! Once you learn the technique, any flatbed machine with appropriately sized acrylic yarn can work.

While the neckwarmer could be done in stockinette stitch, I am adding faux cables for a little extra pizzazz.  Faux cables and crinkle fringe are a match made in heaven.

This pattern includes several variations. That makes each Crinkle Fringe Cowl and Neck Warmer totally unique. What a great gift idea!  This will surely cover a lot of your gift list!

This is the companion pattern for the video How to Machine Knit the Crinkle Fringe Neck Warmer! Check it out for more details!
