Angels and Butterflies

Easy Christmas Tree Ornaments to Crochet

Crochet Christmas tree ornaments fast! To keep the spirit of Christmas in August going, I’ve just added five more tried and true Christmas tree ornaments to the Holiday pattern collection! Each of them take no time to crochet and can use up a bunch of itsy-bitsy balls of yarn.

These small projects fit in the lap and make summer travel a pleasure. Pack a crochet hook and a little yarn and off you go. Quick and easy to make you will be able to stockpile the ornaments in plenty of time before the holiday rush begins. Use them to decorate holiday packages then hang them on the tree! Whatever your preference  these five easy Christmas tree ornament give you plenty of variety!

All of them can be made in mercerized #10 cotton yarn or try the Hilo Omega #2 nylon thread. Raid the old yarn stash and go forth and create!

Let’s count them off!

Who can resist angels at Christmas?  These little celestial creatures fancy butterfly wings so you get two patterns in one! While you crochet the wings, the kids can wrap the yarn around a little piece of cardboard to make the bodies. There is no complicated finishing either. Angels and butterflies makes a great family fun project!

Icicle Christmas Ornament

Create your own winter wonderland with sparkling icicle Christmas ornaments. Super easy-to-make, each icicle Christmas ornament twists and curls into a tapering spiral. When you are done crocheting, your icicle is done!

This is one of my all-time favorites! The  Christmas Star makes a beautifully elegant ornament all by itself. But I like to personalize it by inserting a picture into the center! The star ornament becomes a mini-picture frame. Take small school pictures, back them with foil paper and make sure you put a date on them to make fantastically, thoughtful gift for grandma and grandpa!

What’s Christmas without a wreath? Make the Victorian Christmas Wreath Frame Ornament made in a rich jewel green! The ruffled wreath can stand alone as a beautiful crocheted ornament. But… I love personalizing my tree with the happy little faces of my children  and grandchildren! My mini-wreathes become frames!

The crocheted coin caddy Christmas ornament makes it so easy to display a silver dollar! Over the years, everybody seems to have hidden away silver dollars! They are novel and oh, so impressive in a child’s hand. Instead of stashing them away in the bottom of a drawer or a teapot in the china cabinet, let these treasures sparkle and shine on the Christmas tree!
