Fun is Educational!

And… who thinks fun is educational? Did you know that children who knit and crochet develop concentration, coordination, better memories, let alone small motor skills?  Whether you participate in the traditional school system or in homeschooling, knitting and crochet are both touted as real skills. Each foster physical, mental and emotional development.

As a mom and now as a grandma, I’ve found the greatest benefit of knitting and crochet is children gain real self-esteem. When a child completes a project, the child earns a true sense of self-worth and accomplishment. That feeling can never be taken away. Sixty-some years later, I still remember my first project!

Kids love our cat toy project because it’s quick to make and fun to play with. Resourceful moms love our cat toy because it uses just about any scrap yarn you can scrounge up. Plus, you can use just about any size needle or hook that is available to make the cat toy, too. Download the cat toy pattern. It’s free!

Let the kids invade the scrap yarn basket, make their selections and stimulate their imaginations all at the same time. Then let the fun begin!

Since, the cat toy pattern includes both a knit and crochet version, whatever your preference, you can enjoy teaching your children how to knit or crochet. There are no worries about little mistakes either. In the land of cat toys, boo-boos translate into creative interpretation. No matter what the cat toy looks like, the cat will love it and all of the attention it will bring.

So, when one of those “I’m bored” days occurs, smart moms (and grandmas too) will be ready and waiting with this easy-to-knit or easy-to-crochet cat toy pattern.

The cat toy provides hours of entertainment for your child and may actually exhaust the cat! Not that the cat would let you know….
